This policy covers the Chairtax app for macOS and this website, chairtax.app. Chairtax is made by [SELLER LEGAL NAME] ("we"). Write to [email protected] with any question about it.

The app

The camera

The camera is the only permission Chairtax asks for. During a break, and during the practice rep in setup, Chairtax reads frames from the camera and passes them to Apple's Vision framework on your Mac, which finds the position of your joints. Chairtax counts reps from those positions.

• Frames are processed in memory on your Mac and then discarded.
• No frame is stored, uploaded or shown to anyone.
• The camera is open only during a break and during setup's camera steps. The camera light shows when it is on.
• The break screen shows a stick figure drawn from your joints by default. Your camera picture appears on it only if you turn on Show my camera picture on the break screen, and even then it stays on your Mac.

You can turn camera access off in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. Chairtax then offers the typed phrase, which needs no camera.

No network, no accounts, no analytics

The app makes no network connections. It checks your licence key on your Mac, without contacting a server. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting. Buy in the app opens this website in your browser.

What the app keeps on your Mac

Chairtax keeps these in its folder on your Mac (~/Library/Application Support/Chairtax), and nowhere else:

• Your settings: movement, reps per break, interval, workday, rank, the name you type when you sign your rank, and your answers to the two setup questions.
• If you fill them in on the energy step of setup: your age, sex and weight, used only to estimate the energy your breaks use.
• A record of each break: when it started and ended, the movement, the rank, the target, the reps counted and how it ended.
• Your licence key, and the day the money-back challenge's 30 days started.

Deleting that folder removes all of it.

The money-back challenge code

Show challenge code…, in the menu bar or Settings, displays a code for you to send us when you claim the money-back refund. The code holds your licence email and the licence's issue date, the day your 30 days started and your time zone, the reps and the camera breaks counted on each day, the date the code was made, a random id for this install, a check value computed over your break log, a count of clock changes seen, and the app version. It goes nowhere unless you email it to us. We use it only to check and pay your refund.

This website

Browsing

The website has no analytics, no advertising and no cookies of its own. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes the requests your browser makes, including your IP address, to serve and protect the site.

Buying

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record for all our orders. When you press Buy, the page loads Paddle's checkout, which collects your email address, country, and payment details, and may use cookies or browser storage that the checkout needs. Paddle handles that information under its own privacy notice. We never see your card details.

Your licence key

After a purchase, Paddle tells our licence service (which runs on Cloudflare) that the payment went through. The service asks Paddle for your email address, makes your licence key, and stores the email address, the key, the Paddle transaction number and the date. We keep them so the thanks page can show you the key and so we can send it again if you lose it. The key itself contains your email address, which is how a key is tied to its buyer.

We email your key to you through Resend, an email delivery service, which receives your email address and the email's content in order to deliver it.

Email to us

If you write to [email protected], we keep your messages to answer them and to handle any refund.

The Mac App Store version

If you get Chairtax from the Mac App Store, Apple handles the purchase under its own privacy policy, and we receive no personal information from it. The app works the same way: it sends nothing.

Sharing

We do not sell or share personal information. The only services that handle it for us are Paddle (checkout and payments), Cloudflare (hosting and the licence service) and Resend (licence emails).

How long we keep it

We keep a licence record for as long as the licence exists, so the key can be sent again. You can ask us to delete it at any time; after that we cannot resend the key. Paddle keeps its own transaction records as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or give you a copy. Write to [email protected]. If you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
